Gyspy Dreams Blog Party!

Welcome to my Gypsy Party!

Gypsy Dreams Blog Party

I'm so glad you are here!

Do you have Gypsy Dreams?

Do you have a bit of  Gypsy in your Soul?

If you answered YES!!!! then
  you 've come to the right place!

But...before the party can begin,
you must pick a gypsy name
 from my list and take it for your own!

      1. Esmeralda
2. Florica
   3. Jofranka
 4. Laludja
     5. Luminitsa
6. Mirela
7. Nadya
       8. Shofranka
   9. Talaitha
 10.  Voilca

***Each gypsy had three names:

The first was a secret name
whispered into the baby's ear
shortly after birth and again when
the child reached puberty
but never spoken aloud at any
other time and never told
to anyone else.

The second was a gypsy name,
used between gypsies only.

The third was a local name,
usually chosen to reflect the
 general names being given to
non-gypsiesin the country
 where the gypsy resided.
This was the name the gypsy
 was to use publicly for on
 official documents.

Follow me...
come this way please!

Let's wander down this winding path,
 and around the bend and up a
 little steep bank and back down again!

 See hidden beyond those tress?
 See the little house on wheels,
 painted bright red and gold?
Let's go knock on the tiny door
 and see if anyone is at home!

 Let's gather around the Red Caravan,
 and talk of journys long gone by.
 our gypsy souls content to travel
 down those old vagabond roads!

Let me introduce you to some of
my old  some of my old gypsy friends!

Aishe
(means "Alive")

 Fifika
means "God will add another Son"

 Lyuba
(means "Love")

Tshilaba
(means "Seeker of  Knowledge")

Tsura
(means" Light of Dawn")

We'll going to have a day filled
 with mystery and magic galore!
Everyone will join right in,
from the youngest the the very old!

We'll dance and sing,
and  have our fortunes told!

We'll learn a few gypsy spells,
and listen to old gypsy tales!

Right about the time of dusk,
we'll build a merry fire,
and drink our cheerful wine.

We'll look up into the starry sky
  and watch that age-old moon rise,

Content within our gypsy souls,
we'll drift off to sleep and
 dream of the open road!

Sisters...let's get ready to party!!

We're on our merry way!
We'll visit every festive caravan
we see and join the fun
 this Gypsy Party Day!

Sisters...let's stop here first
to see Sweet Gypsy Rose!

First,  drink a cup of tea with me

Next, let's have our fortune told!

***Did you know that Gypsies are prized
for their remarkable psychic abilities
 and the gift to attract good fortune!

The cards you picked  are
 showing  much good fortune
 and hapiness for you!

 Gypsies are born with such gifts,
but what makes their powers
 so innate is their relationship
with nature.

 Their bond with the spirits
of the outdoors allows their
 gifts to evolve naturally.

Madame Alexander says you
have a extremely long life line!
She sees  plenty of good fortune
 in your finances and your
 love life is very solid and true!
 She also says that your  future is
filled with more happiness
 than you can imagine!

Now it is time!

Sisters, gather around,
lets form a circle and hold hands to
 symbolize the eternal circle of the moon,
 thus bonding  our friendship to also
 symbolize  all of us together  as one!!

Day is ending and night will be here soon!
Sisters, let's  sing the song of the
The Moon Blessing !

Here is the New Moon!!
  The New Moon has arrived.
Be lucky for me now.
You've found me penniless.
Leave me rich and prosperous.
Leave us with money.
Leave us with good health.
Leave us with love.

The 4th Edition of the Altered Bits Art Zine Is Published!

I Am Published!

Yes, it's true, and all of my thanks goes to
Alicia Caudle at Altered Bits for making it
 possible for my art work to be published!

Alicia Caudle is a remarkable woman and a
wonderful inspiration to the artist community through
 her incredible web site, newsletters, and tutorials!
 Her sells her amazing art work along with the
 delightful collage sheets she personally designs.

She is well known for her
 altered art books,
 altered journals,
 and her
 "Frozen Charlottes"
 assemblage!

Here is a Quote taken
from her Altered Bits Shop:

"Once upon a time...

 in the mildly rainy Northwest,
 a web designer girl/mixed media artist
 named Alicia realized that her studio was
 overflowing with an abundance of found objects
 and altered art supplies so great that she
would never in 943 years be able
 to use it all herself.
 Rather than coveting it, she decided
 to share some of her treasures with the
 rest of the world and so was born Altered Bits."

Alicia is truly a very creative
and talented woman who has also been
 published in several Somerset Studio magazines
 and her art is featured in the new publication of
"Inspired Remnants, Curious Dreams:
 Mixed Media Projects in Epoxy Clay
Author--Kerin Gale

Alisha  holds a yearly challenge that
 she opens to give  artists the wonderful
 opportunity to enter their art work for possible
publication in  her digital Altered Bits E-Zine!
She has already published 3 Altered Bits E-Zines
that are jam packed with outstanding examples of
 mixed media art from artists who entered the challenge!

Last Fall,  when she sent out the
 announcement for artists to enter the
 Altered BitsE-Zine Challenge,
 she also added that the 4th Edition
would be sold in print!

I have always loved Alicia's
amazing art work and her
incredible web site and
was immediately inspired
by the themes she had listed
for the challenge entries!

1.  Black And White
2.  Notorious
3.  Letters and Symbols

I choose the theme "Notorious" and with
 my two favorite Hollywood Divas in mind,
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford,
 I created an altered art book with
 images from the movie,
"Whatever Happened To Baby Jane"!

I sent my entry to Alicia with
 my fingers crossed
 and went completely
out-of-my-mind
thrilled when she sent
the e-mail letting me know  that
 my altered art book would be
 published in the Altered Bits Zine!

 I also want to send out a special thanks to
another very creative and talented woman!
 Jo Gabriel,
 who is a very gifted singer/songwriter and pianist!
If it had not been for Jo's website,
 The Last Drive In,
I wouldn't have been inspired to create
my altered art book for the challenge!

When I saw all of the incredible images
that she had posted from the movie
"Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?",
the "sparks of inspiration" began to flow
and I knew that I had found the images I needed
to create my definition of  the theme "Notorious"!

THE LAST DRIVE IN:

 Jo  has posted an incredible amount of
images from the old Hollywood Era of those
exciting, thriller /chiller motion pictures that
 made everyone crazy to go the drive in
to watch their favorite stars appear on
 that enormous outdoor picture screen!

But there's more...
Jo's music is beautiful,
 simply put and said...
     magestically beautiful!

 A Quote taken from
Hunting Down The Ceremony review
 from Delusions of Adequacy

July 22, 2010

" Joey has just released her
 re-issuing of the classic all
 instrumental album, originally available
thru Faithstrange, now exclusively
through her own Ephemera.
 It’s a haunting journey,
and as Joey describes it,
part of her elemental series,
 this being her air album.
 For those of you who have already
 been fans of this work,
or would like to introduce yourself
 to something very special
out of Joey’s repertoire,
 this album is an elegant,
stark and ethereal listen
 that you won’t regret."

Quote From Jo Gabriel's YouTube Profile:

"Jo Gabriel is best known for her
 intuitive control of the piano,
 her ethereal voice and the
 unique depth of her songwriting.
 Often assumed to be classically trained,
 Jo is completely self taught.
Her music stands in the genre of
ambient gothic/neo-classical and is
 often compared to the likes of
 Kate Bush, Harold Budd, Tori Amos,
 Joni Mitchell, the Cocteau Twins,
Tim Story, Laura Nyro, Lisa Germano,
 Eric Satie and Hannah Fury."

Here is a sample of Jo's amazing
musical talent and incredible voice!
 Please listen to her beautiful music before you leave!

Thank You ~ Jo!!

P.S.
 I didn't mention where my art work

Saturday Soartful Challenge

The Theme this Week
at Saturday Soartful Challenge!

    Thank you, Jeanette!
 You always picks out the loveliest images
 for the Soarful Challenge and
 this one was no exception!
  I knew I had to take the time this
   afternoon to make something really
 special with this  delightful scene!

 I found  these wonderful vintage faerie cards at
 June's blog site,
Art Freebies

and began to create a little world
 where her sweet little images could live!

 I placed her link right here:
because I bet you'd  like to
find something enchanted too!

So this is my Vaerie Enchanted Faerie entry:

"FIREFLIES AND FAERIES"

At first glance, I saw dozens of little enchanted faeries,
 dancing and frolicking together in the warmth of the sun.

When their afternoon dwindled
 into the evening dusk,
 they began to sweetly sing
 the  Faerie Songs of Olde.

The  fireflies came out to dance with them,
 illuminating this blissful night with a
 magical  display of radiant lights!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you, June and Jeanette, for making
 this challenge so much fun to participate in!
SteamPunk
Alice in Wonderland
 Paperdolls
She's not your ordinary Alice!!
she's been designed to look
fabulous with a Steampunk Style!
You will enjoy making  these  fabulous paperdolls.
Our only disappointment was that the
 Mad Hatter was not included in the samples!
But wouldn't the whole book
make a great Christmas present ?
They have a $10.00 off coupon to
use when placing an order!
 I'll have to go over and visit Dover later,
maybe to order something for them
 and something for me, too!
 I  made  two sets  for my daughters and they
absolutely adore these unique paperdolls!
They loved helping me cut out all of the images!
We glued all of the dolls, accessories, and clothes
to THICK card stock and then added some brads
 on the doll's arms and legs for movable parts
in case any of them want to futterwacken!
TIP:
the brads are ideal when
dressing the paperdolls!
 Such a breeze!
And Remember Alice Kingsley's Philsophy:
Mad Hatter:  Have I gone mad?
Alice Kingsley: I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers.
But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.
